As the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) continues to expand, the need for additional parking capacity has increased. Motor City Electric Co. was for the complete electrical contracting for the new nine level parking structure as well as the installation of backup generators.

The parking structure is connected to the completely new DMC Heart Hospital via an elevated pedestrian walkway and is designed to hold up to 1,750 vehicles. As part of a medical facility, lighting and security are critical services in a parking structure.

The three new generators installed by MCE provide backup electrical service for DMC Heart Hospital as well as Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the new Children’s Hospital of Michigan Critical Care Tower currently under construction, and include capacity for future expansion.

DMC Heart Hospital is home to DMC Cardiovascular Institute and Cardio Team One, and is Michigan’s first and only dedicated heart hospital. Cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and vascular surgeons working together in a single place with the united goal of providing extraordinary, immediate care to patients suffering from all forms of heart disease and vascular disease.
